ACO’S Revolutionary Stainless Steel Pipe Systems

ACO PipeAs a superior alternative to PVC and HDPE drainage pipes, ACO’s revolutionary stainless steel drainage pipe system combines effectively with ACO’s other Building Drainage products to provide a complete water management solution for buildings.

ACO Pipe® is manufactured using high quality grade 316 stainless steel. The pipe components are modular, designed for performance, durability and ease of installation.

Best of all, ACO Pipe® is easy to assemble with push-fit connection, practical and  available from 0.15 metres, all the way up to 6 metres in length.

Pipes and fittings are available with the following external diameters:

  • 50mm
  • 75mm
  • 110mm
  • 125mm
  • 160mm; and,
  • 200mm

Let’s take a look at why you should choose stainless steel piping drainage products over other traditional piping materials.

Stainless Steel vs Other Materials

ACO Pipe® has a superior service life. Whilst appearing more costly upfront, it will result in greater savings down the track.

There is a distinct advantage of using stainless steel drainage piping over materials such as PVC, HDPE and cast iron. One of the most obvious reasons why stainless steel is better is simply because it does not crack. Even when enduring the toughest of conditions, stainless steel remains strong, sturdy, and robust.
When knocked around, stainless steel pipes may receive dents; but it is still strong enough to withstand cracks and internal damage. On the other hand, PVC, cast iron and HDPE require immediate replacement when damage occur.

In addition to this, stainless steel expands and contracts less with changes in temperature. This also leads to cracking and failure at the joints with traditional pipe materials. For instance, HDPE tends to rupture when liquid operating temperatures vary between 10°C and 60°C.

The Benefits of Using ACO’s Stainless Steel Pipe Drainage Systems

We’ve already looked at why ACO Pipe® is more durable and cost effective than traditional materials, but what are some of the other benefits of using ACO Pipe®?

  1. There are a large range of modular components to choose from –up to 6 metres in length.
  2. Installation is simple and fast; each component is light and easy to fit.
  3. Stainless steel products are extremely good at resisting extreme temperatures (both hot and cold).
  4. The double-lip feature ensures that fittings are appropriately sealed.
  5. Low on-going maintenance (thanks to the quality 316 stainless steel).

Now you know what the benefits are and why you should choose stainless steel; but let’s assess some real life applications by looking at examples of ACO’s past work.

Case Study 1: Thomas Foods International

After recently requiring an upgrade to the drainage layout of their large meat processing plant (one of the biggest in Australia), Thomas Foods International used  ACO Pipe® to lessen downtime and increase productivity, which had been caused by ongoing maintenance to their previous drainage system.

ACO Pipe® was used to replace a portion of the existing HDPE drainage pipes beneath the processing areas and kill floors.

Case Study 2: Mars Pet Food Plant

ACO Pipe® systems were at the forefront of the extensive $100m Mars Pet Food upgrade in Bathurst, NSW.

A brand new processing building was created, and the implementation of a new drainage system was required in both new and existing buildings. In order to connect the buildings together, a bio filter was installed. Importantly, it was recognised that because of the high temperatures of waste-water, HDPE piping was deemed unsuitable.
